Unmarried parents shown as married

If there is no marriage date, the marriage place field is ignored, so even if you enter a comment like "Not Married" or "No record of marriage" it does not show up. Neither does it help if you change the marriage status.
As a result illegitimate children look as though they are legitimate.
Also any notes associated with a marriage, eg "Both in this parish" are not included.

I would need to see the portion of the GEDCOM that contains the family to understand this better. If there is no marriage (MARR) then would be neither a date nor a place associated with the event. For example the following family does not have a marriage event:
1 FAMS @F1@
0 @F1@ FAM
1 HUSB @I1@
1 WIFE @I10@
1 CHIL @I2@

The following family does have a marriage event with a place and no date:
1 FAMS @F1@
0 @F1@ FAM
1 HUSB @I1@
1 WIFE @I10@
1 CHIL @I2@
1 MARR
2 PLAC Atlanta, Georgia

Also if there isn't a marriage event then how could there be a comment (NOTE) associated with it.
That said, I did find an issue regarding marriage notes being ignored in GEDCOMS produced from some sources and this will be corrected in 10.02

The situation I was commenting on was that, without a date, MARR PLAC is not reported on UncleGed. For the parents of illegitimate children I habitually enter the text "Not married" in MARR PLAC. I have been forced to include a dummy marriage date for all unmarried parents on my file.
