The Tag-to-Text (tagtotext.txt) file was introduced in version 9.0. The Tag-To-Text file (tagtotext.txt) originally was added to allow for translating the labels used for each GEDCOM tag found in the GEDCOM file to other languages besides English.

As of version 10.02 it can also be used to suppress the tag and its associated data from appearing in the output altogether. This is done by adding an entry to the tagtotext.txt that contains {tag}=!.

For example in the following entries the tag "_MEND" is translated to "Divorced" and GIVN and SURN are both suppressed.
_MEND=Divorced
GIVN=!
SURN=!

To edit the Tag-to-Text file, select Tag-to-Text from the Tools menu. This will open the file in your default text editor.

NOTE: This method does not allow for suppressing critical tags such as BIRT, DEAT, etc.. It primarily designed to suppress custom tags that were ignored by UncleGED prior to version 10.02.
